According to the Indian Coast Guard, the fishing boat was detected during routine maritime surveillance in Indian territorial waters. Upon being challenged, the vessel attempted to flee towards Pakistan. However, Coast Guard personnel swiftly intercepted and boarded the boat, preventing its escape. After securing the vessel and crew, the Coast Guard decided to escort the boat to Porbandar, Gujarat, for detailed questioning and further investigation.

In an official statement, the Indian Coast Guard said, “The Pakistani fishing boat was intercepted in Indian waters near the IMBL. The vessel attempted to evade interception but was successfully boarded and is being towed to Porbandar for detailed interrogation.”

Incidents involving fishing boats crossing the maritime boundary between India and Pakistan occur periodically due to the proximity of fishing zones to the International Maritime Boundary Line. Both countries maintain heightened surveillance in the region due to security concerns, and vessels found crossing the boundary are subject to investigation under maritime laws.
